Auto GAP Insurance - Is It Really Necessary, or Is It a Waste of Money?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

We have feelings about that GAP insurance policy in a couple ways. First, we have those that swear by it, have purchased it, and thankfully never had to use it. And there are those, that have been into a situation where their car was declared a total loss. And those folks had to figure out a way to pay the inequity back to the bank. Pretty tough dilemma, but hopefully after I shed some light into this insurance option, it might just become a viable and sensible choice.

The abbreviation of GAP stands for "Guaranteed Auto Protection". Self explanatory but sometimes gets confusing when explained unclearly. Alright, going back into the definition of inequity or negative equity as its most widely referred to. It is when someone owes more to the bank than what the current market value of the asset is. And this asset can be autos, boats, rv's, motorcycles, any asset that has a constant daily depreciating value. What GAP does for consumers, is real simple. In fact, think of it as a safety net in event that if something happens to your depreciating asset, whatever the case may be, that GAP insurance will pay the difference between what is owed and what your insurance company settles for plus the insurance deductible up to a $1,000. And for those of us who have financed or leased a car without putting any sort of equity down, will know exactly what I mean. And statistically, about 75% of consumers are in a negative equity position. Very frightening indeed!

So what I'm closing at, GAP is a worthwhile investment as long as you're financing the full purchase price of an asset. No sense taking a risk hurting your credit. GAP is relatively inexpensive and only costs around $500-1000, which does very little to your monthly payment. So when you're making the decision to get GAP, make sure you're aware at the benefits before you say no.

Auto Insurance For Teens

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Teen auto insurance is a high risk factor for all insurers. The crash rate for teenagers is so high that it is usually preferred by parents not to let them drive untill they are older.

Usually, the most prevailing factor behind teenage drivers is peer pressure. Hence in order to keep your teenager safe at the same time as paying lower auto insurance premium for your teenager, you need to follow certain tips.

First of all, you need to realize that teens aver privileges that come with maturity at the same time as staying away from the attendant responsibilities. It is necessary to let your teenager know that with every privilege there is some responsibility or the other!!

Secondly, you should make them pay their auto insurance premium themselves or at least put in a considerable amount. This is a step that helps assert the fact that they would be far more protective and feel a bit more responsible.

Tips To Help You Ensure Your Teenager's Safety

These tips generally work if you already have a close relationship with your teen.

1. Make sure your teenager does not drive around with peers unless you or some other responsible adult is present in the car with them.

2. Ascertain that your teen does not drive at night. It has been suggested that people driving at night are at a major risk of having accidents.

3. Let them know that they can not drive while being drunk and that they cannot drive if they have taken even a sip of an alcoholic beverage.

4. It is necessary for them to know that racing on the highway is not a good idea. A speeding ticket should lead to being grounded.

5. For taking the car out, they must tell you where they are going. If you are not comfortable, they need to take a cab.

It is necessary for you to get hold of and compare quotes from insurance quotes sites. All you need is just fifteen minutes to get quotes from a select few quotes sites.
Furthermore, make sure you give your accurate details as you fill the questionnaires presented.

After receiving your quotes, compare them in order to find out which serves your interest best both in price and value.

California Auto Insurance Laws

Image : http://www.flickr.com

California law requires that drivers have evidence of auto insurance if they are driving their own car or someone else's. People who own a vehicle but don't drive it are still obligated to have auto insurance in California.

California's Compulsory Financial Responsibility Law necessitates all drivers and owners of an automobile to be financially responsible for their actions. The statutory minimum limits of liability insurance in California are that the person responsible for an accident that results in the death or injury of one person is liable for $15,000, or $30,000 if there are multiple injuries in one accident. The responsible party is liable for $5,000 of property damage for any one accident.

There are four techniques to realize financial responsibility, including coverage by a motor vehicle or automobile liability insurance policy, a cash deposit of $35,000 with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), a certificate of self-insurance issued by DMV to owners of fleets of more than 25 vehicles, or a surety bond for $35,000 obtained from an insurance company licensed to do business in California.

When a vehicle is in an accident for which the driver is established as a legally liable, bodily injury liability covers their liability to others for injuries to them, whereas property damage liability covers their liability for damage to someone else's property.

All California drivers and owners need to have at least the statutory limits of minimum liability insurance or an approved substitute method to compensate for injury or property damage they may bring about. Penalties are extremely harsh for nonconformity with this segment of the vehicle code. Comprehensive coverage (other than collision), uninsured motorist, medical payments, and collision insurance are not required by law but can be a good investment.

Inexpensive Auto Insurance is Not "Easy" Auto Insurance

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Typically speaking, one would want to be insured if they decide they would like to own and, simultaneously, buy a car. Getting insured is easy... if you don't care about your rates. However, if you're looking for inexpensive auto insurance, then you'll probably want to consider a few factors of your current position. Honestly speaking, running out and jumping the first provider you see won't get you a very good rate (unless you're one lucky SOB). So if you're more money conscious, and I'm hoping you are with today's economy, then you need to look around a little more and study a little bit.

Before you go get a quote, ask yourself a few questions: How many wrecks have I ever gotten in? How many this past (year, 5 years, 10 years)? How many speeding tickets have I accumulated? How many moving violations (stop sign ignorance, red light running, etc.) have I committed? What make and model is my car? How much did the car cost? What color is my car (red cars, for example, cost more for insurance)? All of this, and more, factors into what makes and breaks an inexpensive auto insurance quote. You could call it your "driver rating", if you put it all together. Did I forget to mention that gender even matter? Well it does. Women are lucky, I must say.

All in all, it's "simple" to get auto insurance. However, it is not exactly "easy" to get inexpensive auto insurance. A good thing to do would be to maybe get a broker. These cool people can actually connect to several insurance providers annoyingly fast. With this power, a broker can get you a good insurance quote pretty easily. If you're bad with money, or you just don't want to go through the hassle, throw a few bucks on the line so someone else that's better at it can do it for you.

Minimum Coverage in South Florida

Florida is a no-fault state, which means your insurance company must pay for all injuries in an accident no matter who was at fault. The minimum insurance amounts you must carry in order to drive in South Florida are:

* $20,000 worth of bodily injury liability coverage to pay for everyone's medical bills after an accident.

* $10,000 worth of property damage coverage to pay for repairs to the other person's car and personal property.

You must also carry personal injury protection coverage to pay for your medical expenses and other expenses associated with an accident such as lost wages.

Will Your Auto Insurance Claim Information Be Shared If You Switch Your Insurance Company?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

After making an insurance claim on their auto insurance policy, people will quite often try to switch their insurance on their car over to another company in the hopes that they will get a better deal and avoid having their premium raised. What they soon find out however is that even though there may not have been a police report filed, the record of their insurance claim is shared with all other insurance companies, effectively blocking them from getting that sweet deal.

It sounds like a good idea, doesn't it? Say maybe you hit a curb in a parking lot, doing damage to your vehicle that goes over your deductible. No one was hurt, you didn't hit another car, but now your vehicle is damaged. You file an insurance claim, get it fixed, pay your deductible and you're good to go. Next thing you know, your premium goes up. That's understandable. Your insurance company now sees you as a bigger risk and therefore seeks to protect itself financially.

So you get the bright idea of switching companies. There was no police report, no moving violations, no public record, right? Wrong. Insurance companies have a program in place for such occurrences. This is the same program that allows them to all communicate and cooperate with each other. It's pretty much vital to the auto insurance "system."

So what are you supposed to do? In reality, there's not much you can do. Your claims record will follow you everywhere. The best thing you can do is avoid filing any insurance claims for a few years. If you have a minor claim that doesn't involve any other vehicles or people, consider paying for it out of pocket if you can. It's more money up front, but may save you more money in the long run.

Of course, driving more safely is always your best bet. Most people are a bit "gun shy" after accidents and start to drive more carefully, so that will work in your favor. Listen to that nagging voice in your head that tells you to be more careful.

If you were involved in an accident with another vehicle and there is a police report, then you know that all the insurance companies will definitely know about it, should they take a look-like when you go to buy insurance from them. You may be able to save a few bucks by changing insurance companies even then, but regardless of who you go with, the best thing you can do is ask them if they have any options for lowering your premium. Some offer a discount if you attend driver's safety school. Another option is if you have a vehicle that is fully paid for, you can just get liability coverage, which only covers any damage you do to other people and property, not your own. This is risky, but often cuts your premium in half.

In the end, there really is no way to pull the wool over the insurance companies' eyes. The best thing you can do is drive safely and avoid claiming any minor dents or dings that don't involve other vehicles.

Want to Know How to Get Inexpensive Auto Insurance?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Most people are trying to save money in any way that they can. One way to save money is to shop for inexpensive auto insurance. In most areas, auto insurance is mandatory so you have to have it. However, you should try to shop for the lowest rates you can get from a quality company. One of the best ways to get inexpensive auto insurance is to keep a good driving record. Make sure that you drive defensively and not offensively. If you so this, you will able to keep yourself in good standing with your insurance carrier.

If you have been with the same insurance company for a long time and have a clean driving record with them, you may want to ask them about getting a reduced rate. They want to keep their quality customers, so they may lower your rates. If you cannot get your rates lowered, you can do a comparison of the various insurance carriers in your location and find out which one has the lowest rates. If there is a major savings, move your insurance to a lower priced company. Make sure they are reliable and credit worthy before you do though.

You can get inexpensive auto insurance if you are willing to get a policy with a higher deductible. This simply means that you will cover a larger portion of the upfront costs in the event that you have an accident. If you are a good driver, you can save some money this way.

If you are looking for the most inexpensive auto insurance you can find, you may look at getting just liability insurance coverage. Most areas require certain minimums for liability coverage to legally drive. This would mean that if you cause an accident, you will have to pay for your own damage and injury costs yourself. If you can only afford liability insurance though, it is better to get it rather than driving without it.

Inexpensive Car Insurance Quotes

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When you'd like to check out some inexpensive car insurance quotes, there are a few things you might want to learn about how insurance works on your behalf first. Polices are broken down by the parts of the policy and each part is assigned an amount of cost. For example, if you have comprehensive that will protect your vehicle against things you might not normally expect to happen.

If you leave your car parked in your driveway and get up the next morning and it's gone, the theft would be covered under the comprehensive part of your insurance policy. The same with a tree that falls from your yard land across the roof of your car-comprehensive covers that. The cost of repairs if a deer runs out in front of your car on a dark road (and causes damage) would be covered here as well.

Another part of coverage you'll want to know about when you're looking for inexpensive car insurance quotes is collision coverage. Collision is just how it sounds. A collision. If your car collides with something-say your neighbor's fence-then you're protected. If something collides with your car, you're covered. There is often some leeway about whether or not you have to carry comprehensive or collision coverage.

With some vehicles, and in some states, all you have to carry is liability. When you should not just carry liability is if the vehicle is completely paid for and is still relatively new or has low mileage. A good rule of thumb to remember is if it costs you more to carry the extra coverage than it would to simply replace the vehicle, then you should only carry liability. There's no sense in paying a higher price than the car is worth.

If you plan on getting a lease or financing a new vehicle, you won't have the option on what kind of policy to buy. Most lease and finance companies require full coverage so that in the event of an accident, the car will be repaired like it was as new. Remember though, that often what your insurance company will pay for the vehicle and what the payoff costs are is usually two different amounts. You could be left owing a lot of money on a vehicle that's totaled if you don't carry enough coverage.

Before you look for inexpensive car insurance quotes, identify the state requirements for operating a motor vehicle and then weigh what type of coverage you need for each car that you own.

9 Steps To Low Cost Auto Insurance For Under-25's

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Any driver under 25 years of age is clearly not the highest risk in vehicle insurance. As a rule, drivers under 25 years of age are considered a high risk to every insurer. A teenager will pay higher rates than a twenty-four year old. The risk an insurer bears even is raised much higher if the younger driver in question is a guy. The reason insurance companies charge so much isn't because they hate under-25's. I'll show tips that will bring down your quotes dramatically.

Step 1 - YOUR DEDUCTIBLE...

Opt for higher deductibles. Stepping up your deductible brings down your auto insurance rate. However, ensure you don't ask for deductibles that are higher than you can handle.

Step 2 - DEFENSIVE DRIVING...

If you have not, try to take a course in it. Defensive driving training programs that are known or recognized by your insurer will certainly reduce your auto insurance premium.

Step 3 - SAFETY AND SECURITY FEATURES...

Get a car that has the following: An alarm system, anti-lock brakes, daytime running lights and any other safety or security gadget. Let your insurer be made aware if you have such in your car. Cars like that are rated highly safety-wise. Those cars will earn you reduced rates.

Step 4 - BUY SMALLER INEXPENSIVE CARS...

Buy a smaller car. Leave sports cars and other vehicles that fall into the "expensive to insure" category. You can use a comparable car that is inexpensive to insure. An expensive car will generally be more expensive to insure.

Step 5 - GOOD GRADES...

Insurers reward you with more affordable rates if you make good grades -- A's and B's.

Step 6 - STAY ON YOUR PARENTS' POLICY...

You can be humble enough to be on your parents' vehicle insurance policy. Nevertheless, for this to work you'll have to live with them and get your car registered in their name.

Step 7 - MILEAGE...

Bring down your mileage as much as you can. Mileage is an important point in deciding your risk to an insurance company. The more you drive the higher your risk to an insurance company.

Step 8 - YOUR CREDIT RATING...

Your credit history shows a lot about a person. If yours is a really terrible credit history, an insurance company will definitely view you as a high risk.

Step 9 - Get Quotes...

You could save some hundreds or even a few thousand dollars by just getting and comparing quotes from about three quotes sites. You will make savings if you go to just one of such sites. But keep this in mind; you'll get better results by visiting at least three. The straightforward logic in this is that you'll obtain a greater number of quotes from a wider range of insurance companies. This raises your chances of receiving better rates.

Inexpensive Auto Insurance - If You Do Not Have the Right Level of Insurance You May Get a Big Bill

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every state has their own requirements for car owners to drive their car legally within that state. Having to cover a lot of risk factors for your car doesn't have to mean high costs when it comes to premiums. You never have to compromise just to have save on car insurance premiums.

Sometimes premiums are based on the amount of risk that the insurance company is taking when they issue a car driver an insurance policy. You have to know that car owners will be assessed before they are approved for insurance. This is how your monthly premium charges are being assessed. It won't hurt to do a little research before getting into an insurance deal, especially if you are the type who wants to make the most of what you are paying for.

Don't take anybody's word for it. What works for them might not work for you. What's affordable and applicable for them might not be affordable and applicable for you. You should see and find out for yourself with the means of comparing policies online, based on different insurance quotes.

Police come immediately when an accident happens to know who or what caused it. If they find that it is your fault, you will need to pay for damages. This is why you need to have coverage for personal and property damage liability. This type of insurance will cover the damages you caused.

You will be responsible for the financial charges that you will be causing, including paying for the property damages and medical bills of the other person you've inconvenienced. For under or uninsured drivers who get in an accident with you, the personal and property damage liability will also take of your bills in case they don't have or they don't have enough insurance to pay for the damages they've caused to you or your property. This is why it is important that you have the right cover if you have an newer or expensive car.

Paying your auto insurance premiums is your only assurance that you can if ever you get into an accident that your damages are covered by the insurance. There are a lot of good deals on car insurance online if you really know what you are looking for. Some discounts are not necessarily advertised and it is only by looking carefully that you will find the right policy at a low cost.

Tips to Obtain the Least Expensive Car Insurance Quote

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Driving a car can be a lot of fun, but at the same time there are a number of things that you need to attend to before you can drive wherever you want. One of the major things that you need to keep you car street legal is car insurance, because without it you could end up losing your license or even being thrown in jail for violating a law that most places take very seriously. Buying cheap car insurance is therefore a priority for most people and here are some ways that you can get quotes that are less expensive than you might think.

Shop Around

The single most important thing that you can do in order to get the least expensive quote is to shop around. Not all car insurance companies are created equal and it is quite possible that some car insurance company out there might have a better plan for your specific needs than the one you are currently working with. Different companies tend to have strongholds in different areas of car insurance, so some companies might excel at providing cheap minimum coverage while other car companies might excel at quality versus cost, which in turn would result in a different range of quotes.

However, one thing that you need to keep in mind as well is to shop around the local insurance providers. Many of these providers will not show up in a web search or an online insurance quote comparer, because the companies that work those websites tend to only look at national firms when they are computing their competitiveness within the insurance market. While this is usually a good plan, every now and then a local provider has an excellent plan that nobody ever hears about, which is why you need to make sure you check them out before making a final decision.

Ask for Better Prices

Insurance companies are very similar to companies that work in the credit card industry. They are always looking to expand the number of customers that they have, because if they are continually expanding their customer base then it means that they are paying out insurance plans on firmer financial ground. Expansion is the key for any credit or income sharing type business and for that reason the customer actually has a lot of leeway in dealing with insurance companies that they didn't know they even had.

In some cases, if you ask for a lower place straight out of the starting gate you might actually be granted it by the particular agent that you are working with. If an agent senses that a particular offer that is given by you might result in a sale if accepted, then there is every chance that they will speak to their supervisor about it. If the supervisor agrees, then you are good to go with an insurance plan that you were able to get for less than the quoted price. While this might seem a bit farfetched, please note that it costs you nothing to ask and the result might be just what you were looking for.

Other Tips

After you've shopped around for car insurance quotes and tried to browbeat your way down to better prices, there is not much else that you can do. The simple truth of the matter is that beyond malleability at the level of the company, there are not that many ways for you to obtain cheaper car insurance. Some areas offer driver training courses attached to insurance discount certificates, so checking with your local government to see if they offer such a thing would be the next step to take once you've exhausted the other opportunities available.

What Does Inexpensive Auto Insurance Mean?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every driver wants to get inexpensive auto insurance. There can be no doubt the easiest way to find the cheapest insurance is to request online quotes. You can get as many quotes as you want until you find one that suits you. This is a service that is free and it is sensible to use a website designed for this purpose. The best of these websites will provide you with more than quotes. You can also get general information regarding the insurance industry. A good website may even offer you tips on how to choose insurance. For those visitors who may have extraordinary requirements there is live online assistance from a designated consultant.

Your best bet for finding inexpensive auto insurance is online quotes. It allows you to see the name of the insurance provider and to see how much your premium will cost every month. All you do is eliminate the quotes you don't want until you are left with those you do. You can arrange the favorable quotes starting with the one you are most interested in to the one that you are least interested in. This is a procedure that will take a very short time thanks to the online quote service.

It is very important for you to bear in mind that inexpensive auto insurance does not necessarily mean the cheapest. Your objective should be to get as much insurance coverage for your vehicle as possible but to pay the least amount for it. You can't compromise on cover in order to get the cheapest premium. In the long run it will cost you a lot more money if you are not reimbursed by your provider because you do not have adequate cover. This is a very important point and one that should not be ignored.

How Are You Supposed to Get Inexpensive Auto Insurance?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

People all over the world are constantly struggling to make ends meet when it comes to their finances. They will, therefore, be looking for ways in which to save as much as they can. One of the best places to start is by saving money on things you are always going to be needing. For example, one of the most important things that people always pay for regardless of their financial situation is auto insurance. But how can you get inexpensive auto insurance?

Well, there is no one answer to this and there are so many possible things that you are able to do if you are really keen on reducing your costs in this way. One of the best things that you can do is to take advantage of the market. What this means is that you should make sure that you play the competition within the insurance market off against each other.

The market is so competitive that they will all be gunning for your custom. One of the great times to take advantage of something like this would be at a time when the country is in some sort of recession. All of the companies are always going to be trying to bring in as many people as they can in order to grow and become bigger and more profitable within the industry. If you are able to take advantage of this fact and keep the hunt up for low quotes then you are bound to strike gold with one of them.

The best thing that you can do when you get a good quote from somewhere is to bring it to the table with your current provider if you have one. When you come to them saying that you have been offered this great quote elsewhere then they will no doubt try to match or better the offer in the hope of keeping you on board.

Most people will not really take advantage of the industry in this way, but when they do they will never fail to see the fruits of their labour. One of the reasons that any insurer is likely to give you a better rate if you really push is because the small financial hit they will face will be completely worth it if they are able to gain your custom and loyalty for years in the future.

There, when you go out in the hunt for great insurance, always make sure that you take this tip into consideration.

Where to Get Inexpensive Auto Insurance

Looking for inexpensive auto insurance? Here's how to get it.

Inexpensive Auto insurance

In the good ol' days, before the Internet came on the scene, finding inexpensive auto insurance was like looking for a needle in a haystack. You had to spend hours on end visiting local insurance agents or calling them on the phone to get enough quotes to get an inexpensive policy. Now, thanks to the Internet, getting quotes is a piece of cake.

You have two choices when it comes to getting auto insurance quotes online - you can go from one single-company site to another, or you can go to an insurance comparison website. The advantages of using an insurance comparison website are:

* Multiple companies compete for your business, not just one.

* You only have to fill out one questionnaire, not one for every site.

* It will only take you a few minutes, not a few hours.

* The better sites only give out quotes from A-rated companies, not fly-by-nights.

* The best sites have insurance experts on call so you can get unbiased answers to your insurance questions. (See link below.)

Because auto insurance rates can vary by hundreds of dollars from one company to the next for the same insurance, comparing rates at an insurance comparison website is by far the best way to get inexpensive auto insurance.

Discounts and Deductibles

Once you find a company with the best rate, you can lower your rate even further by doing the following:

* Raise your deductible. Raising your deductible from $250 to $500 can save you up to 30% on your yearly premium. Raising it to $1,000 can save you up to 50%. Just make sure you can pay your deductible if you need to file a claim.

* Drop your collision coverage. If you drive an older car consider dropping your collision coverage, especially if your car is worth less than the cost of your insurance plus your deductible.

* Consolidate your policies. Purchasing your homeowners and auto insurance through the same company can save you 10% to 15% on your yearly premiums.

* Get discounts. Auto insurance companies offer discounts to their customers for a variety of reasons. Ask about all the discounts that are available and take advantage of all the ones you're eligible for.

Finding Inexpensive Car Coverage

Image : http://www.flickr.com

To find the least costly truck insurance, simply take the time to weight several insurers that are offering their services right on the web.

You may discover that several of them offer a free online quote of how much it will cost to get truck insurance through them. This is the fastest method for you to secure the insurance that you want fast too. It is quick to go from one webapge to the next comparing the amounts of coverage and the total price of the truck insurance.

Someone that is searching for inexpensive truck insurance; could be able to buy the proper type of insurance for their needs as well as for their savings account. There are many insurance companies available at virtually any hour. These companies have a large range of products, different price ranges and, probably the most beneficial thing about them is that they compete for their customers with other companies. This helps to lower insurance rates down for you.

Inexpensive policies do not mean that the insurance buyer will get any less than good quality service. The company that has a less expensive insurance rate is still held by laws to uphold their end of the deal should anything go wrong.

They must offer their covered client with the coverage that the policies outline. Most of the time, these policies are quite the same as to more expensive policies that are offered. They offer inexpensive rates mainly because they are larger insurance companies that can offer them because they have so many customers.

Car insurance companies are not all the same. If you are searching for anything specific, one of the best things that you should do is to look at insurance buyer ratings of insurance companies that are offered throughout the web. These may give you instant feedback on how well the company does provide their products.

Fortunately, most truck insurance companies out there are quite fair and will give solid insurance for a good fee, even a inexpensive fee.

DWI Auto Insurance - Will My Rates Increase?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are convicted of a DWI then you better be prepared for your vehicle insurance to skyrocket. DWI auto insurance rates are more than any other classification of driver's will pay. This is because a DWI conviction classifies you as a high risk driver and you will pay more in premiums to cover that risk. If you live in a state where auto insurance is optional it may not be such a big deal. However there are plenty of states where it is mandatory and the DWI auto insurance rates may be too much for you to pay.

You may get lucky though because may insurance companies only review a person's driving record every three years. The fact that you have a DWI may go undetected for quite some time on your current policy so you won't be charge more. Should you decide to switch companies though for auto insurance or make any changes to your current policy your DWI will be discovered. Many times a DWI can result in your request for auto insurance not being honored or your current policy being canceled.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has made it harder for those with DWI convictions to hide them from insurance companies though. In many states a SR-22 form of insurance is required before the person can get their driver's license reinstated. This requires contacting your insurance company and letting them know about the situation. SR-22 insurance is more expensive that regular auto insurance because of the high risk involved with the driver. You can expect to be mandated by the Department of Motor Vehicles to have this type of insurance for up to five years.

To make sure you keep the SR-22 insurance coverage after you provide proof the Department of Motor Vehicles has your file flagged by the insurance company. Should you cancel the insurance policy or they cancel it for non-payment they will be notified and your diver's license will be suspended.

The insurance company does reserve the right to cancel an auto insurance policy should they find out you have a DWI. They don't have to offer the SR-22 coverage but many of them do because of the high amount of money they can charge for it. If the insurance company plans to cancel your current policy written notice will be sent to you so you are aware of the situation.

According to various studies 25% of individuals with a DWI conviction never find it showing up on their driving record. This is often due to the lack of effective documenting between the legal system and the Department of Motor Vehicles. In other states the DWI can be eliminated after the driver completes a treatment program and a driver's education class.
